Baby Dedication

Riverwood does not practice infant/baby baptism. For our reasons behind this and what we see as the role of baptism see the FAQ above regarding baptism.

Baby dedication is based on the Old Testament example found in Samuel 1:11. In the New Testament, Mary and Joseph went to the temple to dedicate Jesus.

Dedication does not mean that the child is a Christian, for (s)he is too young to place faith in Christ. The child is not necessarily blessed in any way with special grace, and is still responsible for responding to God's Word and God's Son. It means that the parents will be totally committed to their own spiritual growth as well as raising their child in a healthy Christian environment.

Please fill out this form if you would like your baby to be a candidate for dedication.  For information on baby dedication at Riverwood please see the FAQ's under About on the home page above.
